Weather Hype

Last year, right around this time, we would constantly hear that there was going to be a big snow storm the next day. The aggravating part was that this was almost never true! Today was one of those days. Almost ever teacher was telling us about a big blizzard watch on Wednesday, and that school could be canceled.

You never know, anything can happen. Right now I’m coming down from a migraine. My head just started hurting after drama, probably because I had to talk over some other people how will remain nameless. Have you ever had a feeling that you’re slowly loosing one of your close friends because of their relationship with someone else. I learned today that it can be one of the worst experiences.

Here are some crazy sports Photoshops brewed up at SomethingAwful.com.

Haha, today’s blog of the day is…

Sunday Comics!

I remember back when I was about 5 years old, right around the time I learned to read, when I was first introduced to newspaper comics. I was traveling, and on the plane there was nothing to do. My dad was doing a crossword next to me, and I saw a colorful assortment of words and pictures hanging from the paper. I couldn’t read at the time, so I just looked at the pictures. I thought it was magnificent how a punch line could be delivered by means of ironic change and peculiarity. Of course, at the time, I didn’t think so philosophically, but I still enjoyed the colorful strips. It was a single sheet with no more than 20 different frames on it. This was a 4 hour plane ride, so I had nothing better to do than read and reread it, over and over. I began to understand the separate comedic approaches the authors attempted to convey. It was magnificent in so many ways. Perhaps this was my first affair with the alien world of illustrational pun-intended comedy.

Burn After Reading was the dumbest movie I have ever seen! What’s the dumbest movie you’ve ever seen?

Snow

At times, my friends and I realize that we’re in the most boring part of the United States – the Midwest. With nothing to do in this small town, no places to go, no one to see, we begin to show hatred for the unforgiving rows and rows of corn that line this state. We can’t always experience the thin grains of sand melting between our toes as a swift breeze rolls across the vast beach. Deep within the backs of our minds we know that we have a simple oasis of our own that no tropical coastline can compare to – snow.

I can’t help but feel sorry for those who live in areas that will never see snow. Snow is something else, something other-worldly. It’s majestic crystals fly from the sky to greet you with a comfortable everlasting warmth. My words may have a cliché tone to them, but I can’t help it.

I was looking at the weather today and the first snow shower is headed our way tomorrow. Snow showers bring the promise of accumulation, which could always lead to a snow day. I remember when I was younger I would wake up in the morning on a school day to realize that I had slept in quite a lot, seeing as my mom hadn’t woken me up. I would look out the window to witness a vast, endless array of white serenity drifting into a deep horizon.

Carter and I live in a neighborhood that’s intertwined with the golf course. When it snows, the entire golf course with all of its mountainous terrain is engulfed in a blanket. This makes for perfect sledding conditions.

Once again, I show no mercy for those who dwell in the coastal planes, basking in the year-round warmth. They will never hear the cool whisper of a blanket of fresh precipitation, or know the feeling of sliding effortlessly down a slippery tundra. They will never experience the feeling of calmness and silent joy, or the sense of irreplaceable happiness when staring into the cold jaws of the long, white abyss that dances before them. They will never experience the mighty, modest awesomeness of snow.

I felt a bit compelled to write this post after reading that there was a promise of snow in the forecast tomorrow. Do you prefer a hot beach, or a cold, snowy tundra?

Saturday Night Live!

New page on And More called “My Story,” please check it out!

We talk a lot about SNL on The Panic Button, and I realized some people don’t know what it is.

Saturday Night Live is a late-night sketch comedy and variety show on NBC. The show regularly lampoons many aspects of contemporary American society, such as politics and popular culture, including both television and film. [Wikipedia “Saturday Night Live”]

Every Saturday night there is a different host and musical guest. The host is usually a celebrity or popular figure. I started watching Saturday Night Live about two years ago and fell in love with the hilarious comedy skits. It also always gives me something to look forward to on the weekends.

Anyway, tonight’s host is Blake Lively. She’s from the show, Gossip Girl. Here’s the promo for the show. There is some very mild sexual humor, so consider yourself warned.

Rihanna is the musical guest. She recently came out with a new album, Rated R. There are some pretty cool songs on it including Hard, Wait Your Turn, and Russian Roulette.

I don’t know how good of an actor and comedian Blake Lively, nor do I know her talents or accomplishments, but she seems kind of funny. It should be a good show tonight.

If you’re an SNL addict like me, you would know that that’s Andy Samberg. He’s perhaps the funniest actor on the show and is bound for success. Today’s blog of the day is…

What’s the coolest thing you’ve made out of snow or sand?

It's Snowing!

In school today we had an ice cream party. We heard people in the hallway yelling, “It’s snowing!” We all ran to the doors to see the white flakes of winter falling from the sky. Something about the first snowfall is so majestic. It’s truly amazing.

With the first snowfall comes the winter holiday theme. I hope you guys like it!

My Back Hurts!

That seems like a line that only an old person would say, but during school I must have pulled my back because I can barely bend over. This has happened to me before right in the middle of a soccer game. I couldn’t play for the rest of the game because I couldn’t walk. I’m pretty sure it happens when you’re moving your muscle’s a lot, and then suddenly sit down.

I don’t think I’ll be going to swimming tonight, which means no homework! Just kidding, there’s still homework :(. There’s always homework.

We received 22 responses to our comment prompt yesterday. What’s the worst embarrassment you’ve ever gone through? Here were some that I thought were funny.

Tatosmusic: A few years ago it had just rained out and we had to run laps, but when I was running I fell in the mud. I didn’t know I fell in the mud – I thought I fell next to it. I was walking around and the teacher pulled me aside and was like, “Did you poop in your pants?”

Thegreenllama: One time, I was at the neighborhood pool, and me and my cousin were doing funny tricks off the diving board. I tried to do one where I crossed my legs in mid-air, and my bathing suit ripped. In half. Thank God I was only 5, and my mom was standing nearby with a towel.

Barbere: I was in first hour and heard laughing. I turned around to see what they were laughing at I didn’t see anything peculiar. So I went from 1st to 3rd hour, and in every class people were laughing next to me. When I got to 4th hour the teacher asked me what was on my back, and I gave her a weird face. I reached up and found a sticky note on my back that said “I love my mommy.” You know what? I do love my mommy!

Scikid: When I was four years old, I was walking in Wal-Mart. I was really sleepy and I wanted to go to bed. I grabbed on to my moms hand and began hugging her. Turns out, the person I was hugging was some stranger who took me to the cashier and the cashier announced that some weird kid was hugging a stranger. To the whole store! My face was probably as red as a cherry…

And as I write this post, I logged on to Twitter to see the Fail Whale staring back at me.

What’s the most frustrated you’ve ever been?

You Guys Are Funny!

One of the greatest benefits of being an author on this blog is reading all your hilarious comments. I asked you on the last post,

Have you ever gone to sleep in your bed, but mysteriously woke up in a different place?

Saphire9410: I was sleep walking and my dad was sitting on the couch watching TV. He saw me come down the hallway, go to the fridge, eat or drink something,  mumble a few words to him, and then go back to sleep. The next morning I woke up with a taste of mayo in my mouth!

Cca: One time I fell asleep in my bed. When I woke up I was laying down by my computer at five in the morning and my dog was licking my face. It was weird.

Davy: One time on break I fell asleep and found myself in a beach chair next to the pool.

Barbere: I went to bed in the living room and woke up in my my bed, fully dressed. There was a gallon bucket of ice cream on the floor. Imust have eaten it while I slept!

Haha, I love your comments! I think I might do this more often. Once in a while when I find myself with too much free time I’ll post some of the funniest and craziest answers I get from the post-end-question of the previous day.

Have you ever gone to sleep in your bed, but mysteriously woke up in a different place? One time I went to sleep upstairs and woke up in the basement. CREEPY!!
